Defending the Reich
diorama is another early work, made in 2005. It shows an impressive
german 105mm Flak 39 with it's crew preparing the gun for action.
The kit is a rare Resin-Kit of Airmodel Products with an huge aluminium
barrel. The figures came from Dragon's "German Self Propelled Gun Crew".
German Flaks were normally concentrated in battery's. These batteries
belong to a Flak-Alliance with a row of further 105mm and 88mm
Flak-Batteries around. By central fire control and coordinated special
curtain fire in 1943 remarkably high losses of allied bombers have been
caused by german Flak. Thereby so-called Boxes - rectangular pattern -
where shot into the sky, what have had partially devastating effects to
the Bomber formations.
Everybody is developing his scale modelling skills over the time and
that is why this diorama and it's figures do not fit my current demands
anymore. Especially the painting of the figure is not up to date
anymore.. but anyway - I don't want to hide this early work.
